Bone Grafting & Sinus Lifts

Bone grafting and sinus lifts are sometimes necessary before dental implants can be installed. When a tooth is lost and not replaced immediately, you run the risk of having your body absorb part of the bone that was surrounding the lost tooth. There is no set time in which this happens, but it often progresses far enough that if a dental implant is not installed within 6 months of the tooth loss a bone graft will be a necessary part of the dental implant procedure.

In the case of some of your upper teeth that are lost, the bone that your body absorbs is actually in your sinus. In this case, a sinus lift is required in order to securely place a dental implant.

How this Works

The brief videos below offer a better (and visual) explanation of bone grafting and sinus lift that just can’t be explained in 2000 words or less! (A picture is worth a thousand words, but a video is even better!). Just click an image in the playlst to start watching.

One thing to note is that in some cases, the waiting of six months for healing and “setting” to occur is not necessary. So even though you have a bone graft does not always mean that you have to wait months on receiving your new teeth. Dr. Gregory will be able to tell you how the procedure will go once she has examined you.

"I’ve been a patient of Dr. Gregory for the past 6 months and it has been a very pleasant experience. She and her staff are wonderful and have made me feel very comfortable. They are always very upbeat! Dr. Gregory did an excellent job of explaining the procedure that would be performed and it went very well – almost pain-free! I highly recommend her."

"I was happy to find Dr. Gregory after a previous bad experience. I was very nervous and she put me at ease about the procedure and made a follow-up call that evening to be sure all was well. I will feel very comfortable recommending her to all my friends."
